The Motet at Warren Station in Keystone, CO
January 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - January 17, 2016 @ 11:30 pm
The MOTET returns to Warren Station for a third year with a two night performance!
Warren Station is proud to present The Motet. In 2015, the group performed to a sold-out audience.
Progressive funk collective The Motet recently announced 2016 Winter Tour plans. Among the plans – a selection of vocalist friends, old and new, will join the band along their upcoming Winter Tour dates. On the list of special guests are Tanya Shylock, LaDamion Massey and Paul Creighton – all familiar voices to Motet fans because of their amazing appearances during The Motet’s special “Mixtape” performances over the past couple of years. New to The Motet stage for select dates… introducing Mr. Lyle Divinsky. Enjoy!
The Motet is a world-class ensemble who whip audiences into a whirlwind using complex layers of rhythm, melody and soul. These rhythms are spontaneous and textured and the beats are hard driving. The band uses this energy to create a rapport between the audience and themselves that is rarely seen in today’s world of manufactured rock. Live, The Motet consecrate the ground on which dance music meets free-form improvisation.
Through collaborative song writing, the band’s focus is to deliver tight, technical and catchy tunes while still leaving space where anything can happen live. With an influence of heavy-horned funk countered by a textural blanket of rhythm, their new arsenal of songs showcase the talents of one of the strongest cast of players the band has ever assembled. Started ten years ago by seasoned drummer Dave Watts as a rotating cast of musical friends, today progressive funk band The Motet has refined their sound and vision into a dynamic and expressive force. The Motet features an astonishingly talented cast of musicians who enjoy a palpable rapport when put together – Dave Watts (drums, musical director), Garrett Sayers (bass), Joey Porter (keyboards), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), and horn players Gabe Mervine (trumpet) and Matt Pitts (sax), and brand new vocalist – the scoop coming soon!
Saturday’s show features LaDamion Massy and Paul Creighton.
