a·près-ski /ˌäprāˈskē/ (noun) – French for “after ski,” “Après Ski” is defined as the activities following a day on the slopes, usually involving alcoholic beverages, a bar hangout, or a straight-up party.
If you’re ready for the ultimate weekday après, join us as we combine the bar, food, and live music into one big Mardi Gras Party and Gumbo Cook-Off on Tuesday, March 5th! Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the last day before the beginning of Lent and was made to indulge, so come to Keystone Resort this Tuesday where we are ready to participate in indulging on all fronts.
Ski at Keystone Resort in the morning (did you hear the Upper Windows are open?) and then come off the mountain straight to our party, complete with an outdoor bar tent with beer from New Belgium Brewery and try our twist on the hurricane – the Keystone Kane. Take your boots off and put on your dancing shoes on for live music from Chris Daniels & The Kings, conveniently located right in River Run Village steps away from the mountain.
The gumbo cook-off will set some of the best local chefs against each other to concoct their heartiest mixtures for sampling and judging. In traditional gumbo, the “trinity” of celery, bell pepper, and onions reign supreme, but these cooking talents are sure to bring out their most original recipes for the occasion.
Who makes the best gumbo? That’s up to you to decide! Get a tasting wristband to sample every gumbo and vote for your favorite. There will be prizes in both the “People’s Choice” and “Kids’ Choice” categories, as well as an official panel of judges to award other categories after a blind taste test. For adults, tickets are just $12 in advance, $15 at the gate and will get you unlimited tastes. Want to bring the kids along? Kid’s tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the gate.
We’ll bring the beads, but the guests bring the true party! Put your boots on their driers, set your alarms, and get ready to après with us and indulge in all the seasonal pleasures that Keystone has to offer!
