The Distilled Spirits and Speaker series returns to Warren Station at Keystone this winter with new topics, new spirits and fun themes.
Mark your calendar as Warren Station brings this unique mountain event to the next level. Taste some amazing whiskeys and bourbons oh and don’t forget the tequila while gaining some knowledge and background on how the liquors are distilled, made and blended while also learning about anything from backcountry travel to woodworking.
January 11th: Backcountry and Bourbon
Back by popular demand for its 4th year, this classic Warren Station event brings together all the best parts of living in the mountains: Keystone Ski Patrol and the avy dogs, backcountry safety education from Friends of CAIC, and bourbon samples from Jim Beam. Sip the legendary Basil Hayden’s trio and learn about the creator, Basil Hayden Sr., and the inspiration for the Dark Rye and Caribbean Reserve Rye varieties that complement the original Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Backcountry and Bourbon benefits Keystone’s Avalanche Dog Program, so sipping on whiskey goes to a good cause! Keystone Ski Patrol and the avy dogs will join us to share the avy dog training process and explain how the team makes our resort safer! And the only thing than better than avy pups? Fresh backcountry powder of course! Friends of the CAIC’s know before you go presentation will cover the basic safety aspects of backcountry skiing, as well as how to read snow conditions and avalanche forecasts. Start your year off learning, and trying something new at the first of the 2020 Distilled Series!
March 21st: Whiskey and Woodworking
A new addition to the Distilled Series, Whiskey and Woodworking is an interactive experience with a variety of woodworking craft projects (for adults!) and craft bourbon samples. Warren Station partners with The Frosted Flamingo mobile art studio to create craft-specific woodworking stations where you can create a wooden coaster, wall art, or a bottle opener via four different design methods. Brand, burnish, embed, or string your own design onto your first project for free, then if you’re still feeling creative, upgrade your ticket to include a second (or even third!) craft! Or are you a one ~perfect~ craft and done kind of person? What goes best with woodwork, bourbon tastings from Jim Beam that will be available so you can sip, learn and craft. Enjoy beer and whiskey specials at the bar while you watch (critique) your friends as they finish their projects.
April 4th: Summit’s Top Tequila Cocktail
The Distilled grand finale, Summit’s Top Tequila Cocktail competition invites local establishments and their bartenders to enter this competition for the best tequila or mescal cocktail in Summit County. Come meet the bartenders, listen to live music, sample every cocktail, vote for your favorite, and receive a full-size cocktail of your vote! Spring ski for the day, happy hour at Warren Station, and maybe meet your new favorite bartender in the county or discover your new preferred tequila cocktail at the last Distilled of the spring. Winners in both People’s Choice and Expert’s Choice categories will receive a top secret prize and bragging rights for the year. We think the perfect complement to a spring day in the mountains is tequila!
